When my baby (recently) first entered this world, I remember being overcome with the need to ensure the protection of this precious life. Much like great protectors of video games past, I would ensure very ounce of my energy bar went to ensure the survival of my baby. Let us honor that group of digital bodyguards who have ensured the protection of their vulnerable counterparts in "The Top 5 Greatest Protectors in Video Game History!

Technos's Super Dodge Ball was originally released in 1987 via arcade, but it's the Nintendo (NES) version that most of us probably played growing up. One of the few good head-to-head NES games, Super Dodge Ball pitted the best dodge ball teams from around the world to "smash" it out on the way to the world championships. This 1996 NeoGeo version plays just like the original... except on roids!
