A great example of the platformer genere, Nightmare in the Dark features many unique mechanics that make it it's own. 

Defeating an enemy causes them to become a large fireball that the player can use to destroy multiple enemies in a combo chain style while attempting to collect their treasures as fast as possible before they vanish. The boss battles feature large, beautifully designed sprites on solid level designs. 

Overall, The gameplay is simple but exciting. Since it was only released in arcade, many people may not even have heard of this game... but it's worth a try!
